"We Play for the Fun of It!"
ABOUT BEACH FC RECREATION
For more than thirty years, Beach FC’s Recreation Program, formerly known as Neighborhood Youth Soccer League (NYSL), has provided children of all ages and all skill levels the opportunity to participate in soccer. “We play for the FUN of it!” is the cornerstone of the recreation program that puts the emphasis on fellowship, sportsmanship, and lays the foundation for the overall physical literacy of each athlete.
The Recreation program is community-based, where teams are formed by neighborhoods while playing other Recreation teams in-house. Scores, win/loss records, and league standings are deliberately excluded to ensure the emphasis is placed on developing skills and providing a fun and positive experience.
PRACTICE AND GAME LOCATION:
In conjunction with the City of Virginia Beach, our recreation program will be allocated use of fields at elementary schools throughout the city for our teams to practice. Practices are typically 1 to 2 times per week depending on the age level and/or the availability of the volunteer coach. Each Saturday, we build our own soccer city for ages U4 through U12 at Williams Farm Park. For our U13-U16 teams, games will either be played at Lake Taylor HS or the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex.
VOLUNTEER COACHES AND ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
The Recreation program operates on time dedicated by our many volunteers. All our coaches are volunteers that share a passion for youth sports and have access to coaching resources, as well as Coaching Licenses free of charge to them. Additional volunteer opportunities are available outside of coaching – interested parents can select a volunteer position upon registering your child.
