Junior Academy Player Identification Procedures

U6 players: All interested U6 players are invited to participate in our Junior Academy program, therefore players in the U6 age group will register, order their uniform, and pay in one step.

U7-U10 Players: Player identification (i.e. tryouts) will be utilized in the U7-U10 age groups of the Junior Academy to promote a high level of training, focus, and commitment. Players and parents must commit to the individual evaluation process through yearly tryouts in these age groups. Tryouts are held to determine if the player is ready for the Junior Academy and to ensure the program continues to be a good fit for the player and family. General Information

Not all players will be ready to participate in a program at this level, either due to maturity or ability. We understand that players of this young age grow and mature at different rates, so there is flexibility in the program to add players during or between seasons. Players may be invited by the Recreation or Academy Directors at any time. In general, players selected for the Junior Academy Program will have 1 or more of the following attributes:

  • Technical Ability - The ability to keep the ball close and under control. The ability to manipulate the ball in 1 v 1 situations. The ability to play with the head up and connect with teammates. The ability to perform technical skills with composure when under the pressures of time, space and/or opponents.
  • Athletic ability - Agility, quickness, coordination, balance, endurance, etc.
  • Speed of Thought - The ability to read the game and make good decisions quickly.
  • Creativity - The ability to do the unexpected and find unique ways to solve the game's problems.
  • Character - The desire and passion to play soccer. They have a smile when they play and enjoy the game. The discipline to train in a professional environment (coachability, listening ability). A high work rate on and off the ball.

The Beach FC Directors of Youth Development will have the final say regarding player placement, valuing the constant improvement and challenging of each individual player. Players requiring additional challenges will be moved up to higher age groups. Players that need additional time to develop and are not ready for the Junior Academy may be moved down to the Recreation or Advanced level.

There will be no player identification for the U6 age group, instead utilizing open registration for any interested individuals. Players have the option of a seasonal or year-long commitment. A year-long commitment is highly encouraged. Players choosing the year-round option will receive a reduced rate. Spaces are limited, so register early to ensure your position in the program.
