Age Groups & Competition Levels
The Virginia Beach Columbus Day Tournament is one of the top premier tournaments in the United States. The following age groups and divisions will be offered for 2007 (Boys and Girls):

Competitors will be placed amongst the above flights
at the discretion of the tournament committee
Teams must play in their appropriate age group! U-18 teams will play U-19 Showcase. ANY other applications to play up will NOT be considered.
U-09/10 Teams
The Columbus Day Soccer Tournament will be offering Under 9/10 competition in 7v7 only. The number of teams accepted, the number of flights, and the placement of teams amongst flights will be at the discretion of the tournament committee.
U-11 Teams
The Columbus Day Soccer Tournament will be offering Under 11 competition in 8v8 only – this is keeping with National standards being implemented. The number of teams accepted, the number of flights, and the placement of teams amongst flights will be at the discretion of the tournament committee.
U-12 Teams
The Columbus Day Soccer Tournament will be offering Under 12 competition in 8v8. The number of teams accepted, the number of flights, and the placement of teams amongst flights will be at the discretion of the tournament committee.
U-19 Teams
The Columbus Day Soccer Tournament will be offering Under 19 competition in College Showcase format. The format will be one game Saturday afternoon, and two games on Sunday. This format offers College Coaches to see multiple teams and enables those players desiring to take SAT’s on Saturday morning in Virginia Beach to do so. Do not ask for special scheduling for SAT’s if taking them outside the Virginia Beach area. Note: U-19 Teams should be prepared for 1:20 start times on Saturday of the tournament.
Team Participation & Guest Players
Under 9/10/11 teams may enter with a maximum of 16 players. Under 12-19 teams may enter with a maximum of 18 players. The team or teams must be entered for competition in a league affiliated with US Youth Soccer/US Club Soccer or USSF affiliates. At registration teams must present proof of affiliation and permission to travel. Validated State US Youth Soccer member passes, as well as parental medical release forms, are required for all players participating in the tournament. All Team Officials must have appropriate Member Passes. US Club Soccer teams are required to have players passes, medical release, and official roster and be in good standing with US Club Soccer. Note to Region I teams: Region One teams with the exception of New Jersey and Connecticut do not require a permission to travel form but must have proof of online notification with their State Association. EXCEPTION: USYS Connecticut and New Jersey teams must provide permission to travel.
Awards
Team awards will be presented to champions and finalists for all levels of competition in each age group. In addition, the traditional exchange of club pins or patches among teams is strongly encouraged.
College Player Profile Book
Upon notification of team acceptance, the Columbus Day Soccer Tournament will make available to all attending U-16, U-17 & U-19 teams, an opportunity to submit their team into our “College Player Profile Book”. This book, detailing specific academic and athletic merits of each player, will be made available to the attending college coaches. This should be completed no later than September 25. This can be completed by going to www.soccerscheduler.com and selecting teams to complete your input.
Fields
Numerous sites throughout Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, and Norfolk will be used as playing venues. These sites are dynamic and age groups will not be assigned until fields are confirmed. All hotels are located approximately 20-25 minutes from most fields. U17/19 teams will be at the soccer complex (HRSC) to assist college coaches in viewing. Other fields to be used include:
Hotel Accommodations
Teams participating in the Columbus Day Soccer Tournament should make all hotel accommodations using our tournament housing service. Hotel information can be found using the hotel link, fill out the form and submit to BookMyGroup.
Teams should not wait until acceptances to make reservations. Oceanfront hotels will book quickly. Do not overbook rooms as this only penalizes other teams searching for accommodations.
Application Procedures
If you wish to participate in the Annual Columbus Day Soccer Tournament, please complete and submit the online application. Application Form MUST be submitted online. Applications sent via US Mail, Email or FAX will NOT be accepted.

Note: Applications and/or application fees received after deadlines will automatically place teams on the waiting list.
Official notification of acceptance and non-acceptance will be posted, on the Columbus Day Soccer Tournament website, no later than August 23. Those teams not accepted will have their entry fee returned. Should a non-accepted team later be granted entry into the tournament, the team will be required to resubmit the tournament entry fee. The LAST day to withdraw from the Columbus Day Soccer Tournament and receive a refund is August 15, 2007.
Registration Headquarters Information
Registration is currently scheduled from 5:00 to 9:00 pm on Friday, October 5, 2007 at the Holiday Inn Executive Center, 5655 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach, VA (757-499-4400). If you cannot make registration during this time, e-mail: soccer@beachfc.com for other arrangements. Credentials will be checked (player cards, official roster, medical releases, permission to travel if required, etc.). Credentials will not be checked at the fields during the tournament, but must be available if requested by tournament staff.
Team Contact Information
Each team, upon checking in at registration, must sign a ledger sheet giving the hotel where the team is staying, the room number of a team contact, the team’s coach or the team’s assistant coach so that these individuals maybe contacted if needed.
Official Documentation
You must participate with your 2007/2008 roster. Guest players are allowed up to five, with the maximum roster size being 18, 16 for U9/10/11. A current official medical release form and valid player passes are required (laminated only if your association requires such). Exceptions to these requirements must have written approval of the Tournament Director. Beach FC teams must comply with these rules. Exceptions are subject to review by the tournament committee for a final ruling. Completed and approved Permission to Travel forms are required for all out of State teams. Note: Region One teams with the exception of New Jersey and Connecticut do not require a permission to travel. EXCEPTION: USYS Connecticut and New Jersey teams must provide permission to travel. US Club Soccer teams are not required to have USYS permission to travel forms, but must present proof of insurance (passes and roster).
Guest players
Guest players are to be written on a copy of the official roster (not original) to be provided at registration. Guest players must have valid player passes, medical release, and permission to travel. Note: A guest player from another state association must have a permission to travel from their appropriate State association. Note: Region One teams with the exception of New Jersey and Connecticut do not require a permission to travel
Online Game History
It is imperative that we have accurate and specific information on all teams wishing to participate. To achieve the appropriate level of competition, it is imperative that the Game History be completed, in its entirety and indicate desired level of competition from menu. This will ensure that all teams participating will meet only the finest competitors. Please list teams played from your state and results.
SAT's
SAT accommodation will be for Under 19 teams only taking SAT’s locally in Virginia Beach. We encourage your players to take advantage of other testing dates. Unfortunately field loading and other variables will not allow accommodations for U17's.
Disclaimer: Neither the Tournament Committee, Beach FC, Hotel Service, or the Tournament Sponsors are responsible for any expenses incurred by any team in the event the tournament is cancelled in whole or part, or in the event games are discontinued or cancelled due to inclement weather or adverse field conditions, nor will any refunds be made. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to decide all matters pertaining to the tournament. The judgment of the Tournament Committee is final. The Tournament Director has authority to make all decisions and these decisions will be final. All referee decisions are final and binding.
