Q: I did not receive an electronic receipt by email, what do I do now?

A: Following registration, you should receive a receipt at the email address you provided. If you do not receive this receipt, do not re-register and pay again. Contact the Registrar (registrar@nsylvb.org) to see if you players are entered in our database. When you contact the Registrar, make sure you provide your name, address, method of payment, amount paid, player name(s), date of registration, and phone number. Do not send your credit card or bank account number in the email! If the registration program charged your credit card or debited your checking account, our Treasurer should have the receipt. If you provide the above information, our Registrar can confirm whether your player(s) is(are) actually registered.

Q: What security is provided for online transactions?

A: Neighborhood Youth Soccer League has contracted with Authorize.Net, a leading provider of payment gateway services, to provide a safe and secure connection for our E-Commerce Payment System. Authorize.net is a solution of Cybersource Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Visa. Authorize.Net utilizes industry-leading technologies and protocols, such as 128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and they have validated compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). To confirm their compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, please see Visa's Global List of PCI DSS Validated Service Providers at www.visa.com/cisp.

Q: I don't understand all that techno-babble, what if it doesn't work?

A:The services provided by Authorize.net help ensure a secure transmission of transaction data, but even if something went wrong any liability for payments made via credit card over the internet would be limited to $50 under Federal law, just the same liability you would have for any unauthorized use of your card. Many major payment card brands, such as Visa, MasterCard, and Discover cards, provide a zero fraud liability coverage to help protect consumers from fraud and unauthorized purchases.* Accordingly, Neighborhood Youth Soccer League recommends the credit card alternative over electronic checks .

*Please consult with your card issuer to confirm the fraud liability coverage on your account and for additional details.

Q: Well, that sounds a little better, but I'm a pessimist. Is there any way I can protect myself further?

A: Additional action is not really necessary, but several card issuers are now offering "cyberized" credit cards. If you visit www.Capitalone.com, for example, you can obtain their "cyberized" card, which offers a 100% Fraud Protection guarantee. If you use a Capital One card online or offline, you will not be liable for any fraudulent or unauthorized charges. This policy applies to transactions anytime, anywhere.

Mastercard International (www.mastercard.com) offers similar benefits for its E-Wallet, which offers a Zero Liability guarantee, complete with "peace of mind that you won't have to pay for unauthorized purchases. On the Web. Or anywhere else. You're always secure." This generic solution is also integrated with several large card issuers (such as Citibank and Capital One), and you can easily register your existing card from one of these participating banks and obtain the Zero Liability coverage. So, if despite the assurances of a robust, industry leading E-Commerce solution you remain uncomfortable, with a minimum of effort, you can takes steps to completely protect your card for use on the Internet.

You should review your account activity regularly to help detect unauthorized purchases promptly and take advantage of customized transaction alerts that your card issuer may offer. If you suspect fraudulent use of your card account, immediately notify the card issuer to help protect your billing rights.
